Applications

Typical applications of expert systems in various areas are:

  • classification - assigning objects to the groups due to their properties
  • interpretation - description of the situation requested for exaple from measurements using a large number of sensors
  • forecasting - a description of possible consequences, inferred from a given situation (eg. anticipate changes in weather))
  • diagnosis - both medical and technical (devices, systems), save for the disease of the patient (or system) based on the observations and measurements
  • therapy - determine the activities that must be performed in order to remove shortcomings identified by diagnosis
  • monitoring - supervising the process and comparing with the course proper
  • control - objects or processes - especially expert systems with fuzzy logic
  • configuration - folding devices with components in a way that is ensure that the established requirements
  • design - like setting up, but at the level of the basic elements

Existing expert systems

Expert systems are widely used in various aspects of our lives. Resulting in the 70 tools to support researchers in their work. An interesting Prospector system is created to support geologists to find deposits of molybdenum. The rules forming system MYCIN was designed to quickly indicate a diagnosis of bacterial diseases of the blood.
